    Out in 2007

  • Growler's Coolest Movie Picks...

Looking for a good movie to watch or rent?

Here's my picks of the coolest movies around.

    Enjoy!

    http://www.growlersworld.com/growlerscoolmoviepicks11.htm

  • We done it!!!

Quarter Finals here we come. ;D

What a game! Ecuador hardly showed up and we got even better in the second half.

A good performance by all and it's always good when we bend it like Beckham.

Quality football and I'm happy. :))

    Great stuff!!!

  • Football World Cup Round-up. Are you ready...?

What a week of football it's been!

Brazil are finding their form and Ronaldo scored. They still don't look at their best but the flashes of brilliance are all there.

Ghana and Australia got through to the second round. Both amazing feats for each team. Ghana will face the might of Brazil and they might just give them a run for their money.

And then England. We always fight it out and dig deep when it matters. Michael Owen badly injured his knee in the first minute and was subsequently out of the World Cup.

Then the game, with Sweden, produced two sublime goals from our boys. Joe Cole's exquisite volley, Marcus Allback's equaliser and Steven Gerrard's header.

But, at the last moment Sweden equalised with a goal from Henrik Larsson.

We have to sort out our defence and cope better with set plays near the goal. The game was drawn 2 - 2 and we still haven't beaten Sweden for 38 years!

Still, we avoided Germany who mullered Sweden yesterday 2 - 0. The Germans are looking mighty strong and being on home soil is clearly an advantage.

Of course, I can't forget Argentina last night. What a match!

Mexico put up a good fight and scored first after 5 minutes, but a slight lack of discipline created an own goal which equalised and let the Argentines back in the game.

It went to extra time and Argentina scored a fantastic wonder goa1! This means they now face Germany in the quarter finals. Sweet.

    And so today.

We face Ecuador before we can reach the quarter-finals. Can Sven lead us to glory? Will he try Theo Walcott at some stage? Only time will tell.

    4 O'Clock kick off.

You know you'll be there!

  • Doctor Who at the Olympics????!!!!!

Ok, I know I said that so far, the first season is shaping up to be better than the second but they didn't have to prove me right!!!

Another so-so episode which was more like X-Files than Gallifreyan adventures.

The one glaring plot hole was when those thousands of people had disappeared from the main stadim, the coverage of the Olympic torch runner kept going, without a care in the world.

Everything should have stopped to convey the total shock and panic of the situation.

And don't get me started about the Council... :))

Aside from some strong performances from the girl and her mum the best bit about the episode was the preview of next weeks two part finale.

It looks fantastic!!! And tragic... 88|

I sincerely hope next season focuses more on the sci-fi drama aspect of the show.

  • Top Dream Holiday Destinations...?

For me it would have to be,

    1) Guyana - In South America bordering Brazil and Venezuela. A truly beautiful country and yes, I'm a little biased because that's where my family originate from. Read more...

    http://www.growlersworld.com/growlerexploresguyana.htm

    http://www.guyana-tourism.com/

    2) Scotland, Wales and Ireland because I've travelled far and wide abroad but haven't seen most of my own backyard. The beauty and sense of history is just fantastic and my camera would just eat it all up.

    2) China - Always had a great love for the country and aim to see most of it in my lifetime.

    3) Ghana - (in fact, most African countries) just to see the beauty of it that I've only seen on TV. I'm a massive scenery geek (for want of a better word.

    4) India - Seen and heard so much about it so it would be a joy to experience it in the flesh, so to speak.

    5) Greece - (in fact most European countries) Again for the sense of history and classic nature of it.

  • Almost missed Doctor Who...

A strange episode this, told from a different character's point of view.

The Doctor appeared in the last ten minutes and Peter Kaye did a good job as an absorbing alien.

Jackie (Rose's mum) had a great part in this. She's still got the skills...

This one had a more comedy feel to it and let's just say "I married a concrete slab" wouldn't be far off the mark to describe the adventure.

  • Ghana 2 - 0 Czech Republic

    What a match!!!

    What an upset!!

Ghana were simply magnificient, playing with style and flair!

They made the Czechs look ordinary, which is usually a hard feat.

A great result for the African nation world cup newcomers.

    Pure entertainment!!! :))

  • England 2 - 0 Trinidad & Tobago

    We made it.

After a struggle, Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard produced two moments of sheer brilliance to grab the game.

Aaron Lennon came on to do some of his magic. It's all happening and the belief is strong.

Bring on the second round!

  • The 1st weekend matches are over...

    Mexico 3 - 1 Iran

Iran fought well but Mexico were clearly the better side.

    Angola 0 - 1 Portugal

This was billed as a big grudge match but Angola lacked that finishing touch.

    So.

Eight matches played and all have been great. Wil be checking out the evening games until the weekend. Something about work?

Still to come, Brazil, France, Spain, Italy, Togo, Ghana, Korea, Japan and more!!!

    It's just too good!!!!

  • Best England World Cup song?

It has to be a tie between New Order's 'World in Motion' and The Lightening Seeds' Three Lions(It's coming home).

    Pure quality sing-a-long tunes!

  • Guten Tag! Guter Schuss!!

    [Good day! Good shot!!]

    Holland 1 - 0 Serbia & Montenegro

Holland just had the edge this time. Robben was flying!

    Mexico and Iran up next...

  • Thank you Summer!!!

How do I know Summer's here?

Because the skirt ratio has shot up a thousand fold. ;)

A truly stunning invention if I may say so myself...

I'll have to get out the old shorts and give the knobbly knees a bit of an airing...

  • Heroes are coming...

The new TV show Heroes looks set to be the new LOST with people all over the world waking up with superpowers.

    http://www.nbc.com/NBC_First_Look/Heroes/

    This will be HUGE!!!!

Coming to a TV screen near you...

    Thanks, Ceejay, for the tip.

  • The games have truly begun...

    Argentina 2 - 1 Ivory Coast

Both teams played great and the only difference between them was the clinical finishing possessed by the Argentinians.

Ivory Coast should have capitalised on many chances.

    Still, a great match.

Two days done and I'm feeling entertained.

    You?

  • Doctor Who - In between the games...

A nice finish to the two parter.

I recognise Captain Zak from The Mummy Returns.

    Great special effects too!

  • What a match!!!!!!!!!!

    Trinidad & Tobago 0 - 0 Sweden

    What a game!

Trinidad's 10 men held off Sweden in one of the greatest games of the tournament so far.

This is what the World Cup is all about!

It simply doesn't matter how big or small the countries are, it's just 11 men against 11 men and the winner is who wants it most.

    Quality!

  • We won!!!

    England 1 - 0 Paraguay

    We won!

An own goal from a Beckham free kick.

We had a cracking first half but just scraped through the second.

Michael Owen came off (subbed) and the team's shape seemed to slightly fall apart. Only solid defending kept us in it.

Still, three points is three points...

Bring on Trinidad & Tobago! ;)

  • England expects...

    Our time has come.

The boys are ready in what is our strongest squad in many a year.

    Let the games commence.

    2pm...

  • World Cup 2006!!!

    It's begun.

    Germany 4 - 2 Costa Rica

    Poland 0 - 2 Ecuador

Some cracking goals and great entertainment.

Are you ready for 3 matches a day!!!!

    Bring It On!

  • What is love...?

You cry I wipe away all your tears,
You scream I fight away all your fears,
and I hold your hand through all of these years,
you will always have all of me.

Freely adapted from My Immortal by Evanescence.

    A classic tune.

    Here's the original, written by A Lee, B Moody and D Hodges;

I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
    But you still have
    All of me

    You used to captivate me
    By your resonating life
Now I'm bound by the life you've left behind
    Your face it haunts
    My once pleasant dreams
    Your voice it chased away
    All the sanity in me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
    I've been alone all along

  • Who ate all the Pies.....?

    Ladies and Gentlemen.

I have finally seen the American Pie trilogy and damn, they're funny.

Haven't laughed so much in a long, long time. ;)

Alyson Hannigan (Willow from Buffy) is a revelation.

The first one is particularly good and easily rates 8 out of 10.

The second and third get 7 out of 10.

    Cheers Chris for the recommendation!

The score draw is Whytockian Wanderers 1 - 1 Austin Albion

Ok, now move along... nothing more to see here...

  • Oooh err Doctor, it's the Ood!!

Now this is more like it.

A stronger sci - fi element and lots and lots of Ood!

Wonder how they're going to get the TARDIS back?

Guess we'll see next week in the second part.

    It's all good!!

  • Summer? Is it really you???!!!

    What a scorcher today, eh?

Gone out in my T-shirt for the first time in ages.

Could it be that summer is finally upon us????!!!! 88|

  • Six of the best, and here comes Germany...

    England 6 - 0 Jamaica

Sven's done a good job and this was a great swansong.

With the World Cup just around the corner we're heading into it with a real burst of confidence.

But just what is that Peter Crouch dance all about? :??:

Here's hoping we see the whole team doing the robot in Germany.
